When you contact us
We receive your email address, name and any information you choose to send, such as your company, music, social links, project details or attachments. We use this information to answer your inquiry and discuss potential work. Please send only what is relevant; sensitive personal information is not needed.
For steps you request towards a contract with you, our legal basis is taking pre-contractual steps. For other correspondence, including inquiries on behalf of a company, it is our legitimate interest in responding and managing business relationships. Providing information is voluntary, but we may be unable to respond or assess a proposal without the relevant details.
Only the business owner accesses the inquiry mailbox within Rats Collective. Email is stored in Apple iCloud Mail; we do not copy inquiries into a CRM. Apple processes email to operate the service. We do not sell inquiry information or automatically add correspondents to a marketing mailing list.
How long we keep inquiries
We delete unsuccessful inquiries 12 months after the last meaningful contact. If particular information is needed for a legal obligation or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim, we retain only what is necessary, document the reason and delete it when that need ends.
If an inquiry becomes client work, relevant correspondence becomes part of the client record. Its retention depends on the contract, applicable accounting requirements and any legal claims; the unsuccessful-inquiry rule does not replace those requirements. The legal basis is contract performance, compliance with legal obligations or our legitimate interest in handling legal claims, as applicable.
Website, cookies & links
Our website does not use analytics, advertising pixels, tracking cookies or browser storage for tracking. Fonts and images are served with the website. The animated rats respond to your pointer locally in your browser; we do not record or send those movements to a server.
GitHub Pages hosts the website. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses for security, including when visitors are not signed into GitHub. GitHub handles those logs under its own privacy statement and retention practices; we do not receive an individual visitor log through this website.
Instagram and other external services are links, not embedded content. If you follow a link, the destination's privacy practices apply. Email links open your email application; this site has no inquiry form.
Providers & international processing
Apple and GitHub may process information outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Apple describes standard contractual clauses for EEA transfers. GitHub describes standard contractual clauses and its participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Their notices explain the applicable safeguards, provider retention and how to request further information or copies of safeguards.
You can also contact us about the providers used for your inquiry.
Your rights
Depending on the applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. We do not use inquiry data for automated decisions or profiling.
Contact contact@ratscollective.com to exercise your rights. We may need to confirm your identity and will normally respond within one month. You may complain to Finland's Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman or your competent supervisory authority.
Working with us
Services, fees, deliverables and any management arrangement are agreed separately in writing. An inquiry does not create a management relationship or a commitment to run a campaign.
